Hi everyone
Sorry it’s been a while since my last blog.I have been having too much fun fishing and taking people fishing.I recieved a phone call from a former customer and now friend Neil to see if I was available to take himself, his father Ciaran and his son Cian for a few days fishing. Our target for the few days was and had to be ”Bass”.Neil is a very acomplished angler and a pleasure to spend time with either fishing or over a pint.
We met up early on a friday morning at the Bellavista Hotel In Cobh as Neil and his family were staying there for the duration. The Bellavista is a cracking hotel and you won’t meet a nicer guy than owner Kevin Murphy.A true gent and a fanatical angler to boot. The hotel is as an owner operated should be,spotlessly clean, warm and inviting with a great pint of murphys irish stout. Before I start sounding like a travel guide I had better get on about the fishing.
We loaded up our gear and headed for the boat Neil had hired for his trip,a well laided out warrior 175,a great boat for any type of sport fishing. Now Ciaran would admit that he wouldn’t fish to often,Cian would go out fishing with his dad Neil on ocassion.Neil on the other hand is fishing mad whatever the species,he has just returned from fishing the Florida Keys and i will have to get him to send me some photos to show you all.
The wind was very light from the north and the sun was shining brightly,Cork harbour was like a lake it was so flat even outside the harbour. We decided on soft plastics for our first method and Neil had a visit to one of the “Smaller” tackle shops in Florida so the variety and choice was vast to say the least. With four of us on the boat i didn’t take a rod,I tend not to fish when i am guiding anyway.I may have the ocassinal cast to demonstrate how to retrieve certain lures especialy my favourites the surface lures.
